  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 6 eggs -- separated
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1


Beat egg whites until stiff. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yokes. Sift flour twice with soda. Add alternately to butter/sugar mixture with sour cream. Fold in egg whites.
Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees. Cool in pan a few minutes, turn out and cool. Ice with vanilla glaze.

Vanilla Glaze: Measure 2 cups sifted powdered sugar into bowl. Heat three tablespoons milk and two tablespoons butter over low heat, stirring constantly just until butter melts. Remove from heat, add to sugar stirring until smooth. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
