Homemade Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 T chili powder
  • 1/2 t ground cumin
  • 1/2 t ground black pepper
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (16 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14-1/2 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 6 oz can tomato juice
  • salt to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Toast chili powder, cumin and black pepper in pan until fragrant. Add olive oil to pan, Saute onion, garlic and green pepper for 1 minute. Crumble in the meat and cook until brown. Drain any excess fat. Add the beans, tomatoes, and tomato juice to pan. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hr.
