  • 4 Tbsp yeast dissolved into 1 c. Lukewarm water (110 degrees)
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 2 c. Hot Water
  • 6-7 c. Sifted flour (more or less)
  • 1 egg for egg wash



Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. In a mixer add sugar, salt, shortening, hot water, add about 1 c. Sifted flour. Beat well. Cool to lukewarm, add yeast mixture. Continue beating; add sifted flour a little bit at a time until dough is the correct consistency. Transfer dough into greased bowl and grease to and sides of bread dough. Let dough rise until doubles in size. About 1 hour. Roll out dough on a floured surface and shape into loaves. Place on cookie sheet covered in parchment paper. Coat loaves in egg wash. Let loaves raise again about 15 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
