Ingredients
- 2 lbs. pork, cut in 2" cubes
- 2 lbs. beef, cut in 2" cubes
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 Tbsp. Penzey's BBQ 300 seasoning
- 1/2 - 1 tea. cayenne pepper
- 15 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup water
Preparation
Step 1
In a large skillet, heat 1 Tbsp. oil. When hot, lightly brown the pork cubes. This will take 3-4 minutes, stirring pretty regularly. Don;'t crown the meat, just brown in 2 batches if necessary. Remove pork, add 1 Tbsp. oil then lightly brown the beef, using 2 batches if necessary. Remove beef, add onions and BBQ 3000, stir and fry over medium heat until onions begin to brown.
Add all the meat and onions to the crock pot, along with the tomato sauce, brown sugar,vinegar, worcestershire and water; stir well. Add the cayenne, if using - 1/2 tea. will give a little bite.
Cover and cook over low for 8-9 hours.
Shred meat and serve with hamburger buns and coleslaw.
