Traditional Mojito

Ingredients

  • 1 small bnch mint, washed, dried and chopped (set aside 8 pretty spears)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups white rum, preferably Bacardi silver
  • Cracked ice
  • 1/2 cup club soda

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the mint, lime juice and sugar in a heavy bowl. Use a wooden spoon to muddle the mint and the sugar together into a paste. Stir in the rum and mix until the sugar is all dissolved. To serve, fill the pitcher with 2 cups cracked ice and pour the cocktail mixture over. Stir briskly with the wooden sppon to mix and chill the liquid. Serve in a highball glass topped with a splash of club soda. Garnish with mint sprig.
