BROWNIES - GERMAN SWEET CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE

Ingredients

  • Brownie Layer:
  • 1 pkg. (4 oz.) baker's sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 C. butter
  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 C. chopped nuts
  • Cream Cheese Topping:
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T. all-purpose flour

Preparation

Step 1

For Brownie Layer:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 8-inch square pan.

2. Microwave or melt in 2 qt saucepan over low heat chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl at HIGH 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

3. Stir sugar into melted chocolate. Stir in eggs and vanilla until completely mixed. Mix in flour until well blended. Stir in nuts. Spread in square pan.

For Cream Cheese Topping:
4. In same bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg and flour until smooth. Spoon over brownie mixture; swirl with knife to marbleize.

5. Bake for 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean (DO NOT OVER BAKE). Cool in pan; cut into squares.
