Ingredients
- 1 C. plus 2 T. all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 C. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 C. (1 stick) butter, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 12oz. pkg. (2 C.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided
- 1 C. chopped walnuts
- Walnut halves or large pieces for garnish
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
3. In large mixer bowl, beat brown sugar, butter and vanilla extract until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in 1 1/3 C. chocolate morsels and chopped walnuts. Spread into greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes.
4. Immediately sprinkle remaining 2/3 C. chocolate morsels over top. Let stand until morsels become soft. Spread chocolate evenly over top. Garnish with walnuts. When cool, chill 5-10 minutes to set. Serve.
