Green Beans and Bacon (or Ham)

Ingredients
- 6 slc thick bacon (or use sliced ham)
- 1 md chopped onion
- 2 qt fresh green beans (or 2 large cans beans)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp each salt and freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)

Preparation
Step 1
1. Fry bacon (or ham) until it is beginning to cook. Add onion and continue cooking until onion is translucent. Don't let bacon get too crisp. It will continue to cook with the beans and flavor them. Drain grease. Crumble or cut bacon or ham. Set aside and prepare beans.
2. If using fresh greens, clean them and cut in bite sized pieces. Cook in boiling water until tender.
3. Add all other ingredients to green beans you just cooked (or to the unheated canned green beans if using those) and cook for approximately 10 minutes to heat thoroughly and blend flavors.
