Split Pea Soup

Split Pea Soup 1 Picture


  • 1 lb dried green split peas
  • 1 bouillon cube
  • 3/4 lb smoked ham, cubed or 1 ham hock
  • 1 small onion, whole
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 medium carrot, sliced
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 8-10 cups water


Preparation time 30mins
Cooking time 150mins


Step 1

In a 6-8 quart pot, combine all the ingredients. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat, cover and cook on low for 2 hours.

Remove ham and bay leaf. With immersion blender or food processor, puree soup.

Replace ham and serve.
