Preparation
Step 1
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, broth, sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and vinegar, then set aside.
In a large skillet, heat peanut oil on medium-high heat. Add orange rinds, scallions, garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for about 2 minutes. Add in the chicken and cook for approximately 6 minutes, or until chicken is golden brown.
Now mix in the sauce and let simmer until the chicken is cooked all the way through and the sauce starts to get thick, this should take approximately 3-4 minutes. On a plate, serve chicken and sauce over rice and garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds
Serving size = 1 cup of chicken and 1/2 cup of rice

Yup, this was great! BF was incredulous about this being a WW-friendly recipe. I used a mix of sesame oil and Original Pam, because I didn’t have any peanut oil (plus sesame oil adds great flavor), but other than that I followed it as written.
PS. I think you could do this with orange extract if you didn’t have an orange.
I just recalculated the recipe on the WW kitchen helper app. Assuming this recipe makes four servings, it’s worth 8 points plus per serving. So totally worth it. I’m making it for hubby and self tomorrow night.

It will look similar, but not exact, as the photo shows a traditional orange flavored chicken recipe, which is breaded and fried. The photo is just more for reference so that those who consider the recipe will, know what original food the recipe is a healthier version of.
I am thinking of trying this on my days off from school. This is an awesome healthier option to it, and I have always wanted to try this recipe but had to find a healthy option.
Anyways I was wondering, just for visual reference. Would this Orange Chicken come out looking like the picture you references from blogchef.net? Or, as I don't see flour as part of the ingredients (which is good), I am thinking it wouldn't look exactly like the picture, correct?
The reason I am asking, is because when I do try this out, I want to make sure I have an idea of what this is suppose to look like lol. I am not much of a lover of cooking, or a professional to say the least, but I would love to try out this recipe.

The meal did taste good but it looked nothing like the picture. That chicken is breaded and in the recipe it is not.

I made this dish last night with some steamed broccoli and it was a HIT!
If you want to add a bit of zing, throw in extra red pepper flakes (I put in an extra 1/4 tsp). It makes the dish a bit spicier and mixes well with the sweetness from the orange.

I am a BIG fan of Chinese food and just wanted to make the correction that Orange Chicken IS NOT the same as General Tso's Chicken.
