Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 3 TBS granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pkg yeast (1 packet = 2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 TBS unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg. room temp
  • FILLING
  • 3 TBS unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 TBS cinnamon
  • TOPPING
  • 1 cup powdered sugar,sifted
  • 1 TBS milk
  • 1 TBS pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Dough
Set aside 1/2 cup flour.
In a large bowl, toss 2 1/4 cup flour, sugar salt and yeast stir well and sit aside.
Heat water,milk and butter together in microwave, 115 degrees. Stir the butter mixture into flour mixture. Add egg and enough of reserved flour to make soft dough. Dough is ready when it pulls away from the bowl.
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough 3 to 4 min. Form into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover tightly and let rest for 30 min. will slightly rise.
Make the filling
After 30 mins, roll the dough out in a 15 x 12 rectangle. spread with butter. Mix cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle all over dough. Spray round pan and sit aside.
Using pizza cutter, cut dough into 2 inch strips. Loosely roll up one strip and place in center of pan. Roll up loosely so dough can rise again.
Coil remaining 5 strips around center roll, starting each strip at end of the previous one to make one large rolled cake.
Loosely cover the cake with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and allow to side in warm draft free place for 60 for 90 mins, HINT heat oven to 200 then turn off oven. Place cake in oven and allow to rise.
After dough has nearly doubled in size preheat oven to 350 . Bake for 30 to 35 min until lightly browned. Cover with foil after 15 min to avoid top getting too brown. Some areas will rise more then others, just push down.
GLAZE
Allow cake to cool 10 mins before glazing. Mix powdered sugar with milk, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth and drizzle over roll
