French Toast Fondue

  • Maple Butter:
  • vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 baguette French bread, cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg white, stiffly beaten

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil and 1 tsp. salt in fondue pot. In medium bowl, beat together eggs, milk and 1/4 tsp. salt. When oil in fondue pot is very hot, dip bread cubes in egg mixture, then into oil to cook. Bread is done when it is crispy and golden brown. Remove from fondue pot and dip into Maple Butter.

Cream together powdered sugar, butter and maple syrup. Fold in beaten egg white.

Oil must be very hot to insure adequate frying of bread. Perfect for a wintry morning breakfast, and fun for the whole family.
