Ingredients

  • 2-4 potatoes (depending on number of people)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Grated cheddar cheese--however much you want but at least 2 cups shredded

Preparation

Step 1

1. Set oven to correct temperature (see below)

2. Grease the bottom of baking dish with cooking spray (butter flavored Pam is my favorite)

3. Peel and cut potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2 inch cubes

4. Combine heavy whipping cream, milk, salt, and flour in a mixing cup. Add pepper to taste. Add garlic to taste. NOTE: if making 3 or 4 potatoes make an extra 1/2 portion of the sauce.

5. Start by putting a layer of potatoes in the pan.

6. Cover the potatoes with a layer of sauce.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until full, making sure the sauce is the last layer.

8. Cover and bake for time listed below.

9. Uncover and bake for time listed below.

10. Add cheese and bake uncovered until melted.

11. Let stand a few minutes before serving so sauce will thicken.

400 degrees
Covered for 20 minutes
Uncovered for 40 minutes

375 degrees
Covered for 30 minutes
Uncovered for 50 minutes

350 degrees
Covered for 40 minutes
Uncovered for 1hour
