Mimi's Lasagne Casserole

Ingredients

  • Cheese filling:
  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. italian sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp. basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 box lasagne noodles
  • 1 box cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan
  • 2 tbsp parsley flakes
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat slowly; add remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 1/2 hour - stirring occasionally.

Lasagne: Cook one box lasagne noodles until tender in a large amount of boiling water with salt. May take 15 to 20 minutes. Drain; rinse in cold water.

Mix first six ingredients. Place half the cooked noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish; spread with alf the cheese filling; cover with half the mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce. Repeat layers. Bake in moderate oven (375( for 30 minutes. Before cutting into squares, let stand 10 minutes - filling will set slightly. Makes 10 servings.
