Ingredients
- Frosting:
- 2 C. sifted flour
- 1 2/3 C. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 T. cocoa
- 2/3 C. soft butter
- 1 1/3 C. milk or half & half
- 1 1/3 tsp. vanilla sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 5 T. butter
- 7 T. hot milk
- 1 1/3 tsp. vanilla sugar
- 1/2 C. cocoa
- 2 2/3 C. sifted confectioners sugar
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour pan and set aside.
2. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add cocoa and butter. Pour in milk, vanilla sugar and eggs. Beat 2 minutes. Pour mixture into pan.
3. Bake first rack from bottom for 40-45 minutes. Turn out on a rack to cool.
To make frosting:
4. Melt together butter and cocoa. Stir in sugar, hot milk and vanilla sugar. Beat until thick enough to spread. Cover cooled cake with chocolate frosting.
