BREAD - CHERRY TEA

Ingredients

  • 2 C. flour
  • 2/3 C. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (5-oz.) package dried cherries
  • coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 C. butter, melted
  • 3/4 C. milk
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Fold in cherries. Combine butter, milk, egg and almond extract; stir into flour mixture.

3. Spoon into greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until wooden pick inserted in center of bread comes out clean (about 1 hour).

4. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
