Cake: Vanilla or Strawberry Country

I usually freeze the other cake for a later date. Slice this cake in half, cover with jam cooked with a little water, add favorite fresh fruit and cover the fruit with whipped cream or vice versa.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 stick butter, room temp
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, room temp
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 350*
Grease flour and two 9" cake pans

Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs one at a time. Add zests and vanilla.

Sift together flour, cornstarch and baking soda.

Add to butter mixture, do not overmix. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until cake tester is clean.
