Crockpot Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • Approximately 4.5lb pork shoulder, bone-in
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 18oz bottle of BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s)

Preparation

Step 1

Turn Crockpot on LOW. Add 1 Tbsp oil and coat the bottom of the Crockpot. Let warm up for 5-10mins.
Add pork shoulder. Pour water over it. Season with some salt and pepper.
Cook on LOW for 5-9 hours, depending on your Crockpot (ours cooks quickly so we did it for 5 hours). If it looks to be drying while it’s still cooking, add ¼ cup more water.
Remove pork from Crockpot (leaving the juices at the bottom of the Crockpot, but removing any pieces of fat or bone that fell off). On a large cutting board, remove the fat and bone from the meat. Shred meat using 2 forks or hands (it should be very easy and falling part quickly).
Return shredded meat to the Crockpot and add the bottle of BBQ sauce. Stir until well combined. Cook on LOW again for 45-60 minutes
