Ingredients

  • 1 column saltines (soup crackers)*
  • 2 sticks butter (1 cup)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips (or the English Toffee Bits will work)

Preparation

Step 1

Foil line a 10x15” cookie sheet (right up over the edges so sauce can't get under the foil), and lay saltines over to cover the bottom.

Boil butter and sugar for 3 minutes.

Pour or ladle over the crackers, and bake at 400° for 7 minutes, watching carefully that they don't scorch or run over.

Remove from oven, and immediately spread chips over top, using the back of a spoon.

(Don't let it cool at all, spread them immediately!. toasted nuts can be spread over the hot chocolate too if desired, but NOT necessary.

Cool in the refrigerator, and break into chunks as you would almond bark. Store in plastic bags in the freezer.
