Old-Fashioned Meat Loaf

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1 3/4 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped finely (half of an onion)
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped finely (half of a bell pepper)
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 8 ounces canned diced tomatoes, drained and chopped finely
  • 3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs (NOTE: Can also use panko)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Dash of worcestor sauce
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • Dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Mix all meatloaf ingredients well and place in a baking dish. Shape into a loaf.

Topping:

Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf. Bake for 1 hour.
