Mary's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix sugar and butter; add egg and flavorings; mix thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or sifting. Stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Refrigerate 2 to 3 hours. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough in half and roll 3/16" thick (put remaining half in frig) on lightly floured pastry cloth. Cut with cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or til golden brown.
