Spiced Orangeade

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cupped coriander seeds, toasted & coarsely ground
  • Zest of 2 oranges, removed in strips with a vegetable peeler
  • 8 cups fresh orange juice (from about 20 oranges)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 3 or 4 lemons)
  • ice

Preparation

Step 1

1. Bring sugar & water to a boil in a small pot. Reduce heat; simmer, stirring until sugar disolves. Remove from heat; stir in coriander & orange zest. Cover, & let steep 2 hours. Simple syrup can be refrigerated up to 2 weeks. Strain before using.

2. Combine syrup & juices in a 3-quart pitcher, & refrigerate until cold, at least 2 hours & up to 2 days. Serve over ice.
