"Meatball Sub"

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp dried minced onion
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 24-26 oz jar of spaghetti sauce
  • 4 Hero Rolls
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with nonstick foil.
Mix bread crumbs, water, egg, dried onion and Italian seasoning in a large bowl until blended. Add ground beef and mix well. Pat into 5 x 6 rectangle. Cut lengthwise into 3 strips and then cut each strip in 4; place on lined baking sheet.
Bake 15 minutes, turning over after 7 minutes.
In a 2 qt saucepan, bring spaghetti sauce to a simmer; add cooked meat.
Split rolls and open each like a book.
Spoon 3 "meatballs" onto each roll. Top each with 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese; place on foil lined baking sheet and broil until cheese in melted. Serve with remaining sauce.
