Sour cream- Lemon Glazed Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • Glaze:
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp bkg powder
  • 1/2 tsp bkg soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2-3/4 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp lemon extract
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tblsp karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp bkg soda
  • 1 tsp mamilla
  • Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon

Preparation

Step 1

Whisk together the dry ingredients. Cream the butter and sugar well. Now add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Now add the extracts and the lemon juice,and zest. Put the mixer to low. Add 1/3 of the flour, then 1/2 of the sour cream, then repeat and end in flour. Pour into a well prepared bundt pan and set into preheated 325* oven for 90 minutes.
For the glaze:
In a large saucepan, as it will foam up, put the butter,sugar, soda, karo, and buttermilk. Bring it to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Now add the zest, vanilla, and lemon juice.
Remove the cake from the pan and while it is still warm pour glaze over, brushing to make sure you have an even coat.
