Domenica's Simple Tomato-Garlic Sauce

Serve this sauce-made quickly from ingredients in the pantry- with Cartelliu's Mini Summer Meatballs, over pasta, or in any recipe that calls for tomato sauce. It's so easy and delicious. It's sure to become a favorite.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp dried crushed red pepper
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

In large saucepan cook garlic and crushed pepper in hot oil over medium heat for 1 minutes. (Do not let garlic brown, which causes bitterness.) Stir in tomatoes and salt. Bring sauce to boiling. Reduce ehat to low. Simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes 3 cups.
