Herby Oil Dip

Buy a nice loaf of bread (or make Mary Anderson's Flat Tire Beer Bread on page 9) and gather around the table with this simple yet delicious appetizer.

Ingredients
- 1 tsp. ITALIAN HERB MIX (or SAGE, ROSEMARY or THYME)
- 1/2 tsp. PARSLEY
- 1/2 tsp. CALIFORNIA BASIL or FRENCH BASIL
- 1/2 tsp. CRUSHED RED PEPPER
- 1/2 tsp. PENZEYS FRESHLY GROUND PEPPER
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. GRANULATED GARLIC POWDER
- 1/2 tsp. PENZEYS MINCED GARLIC, soaked in 1 tsp. water for 5 minutes
- 1 Cup olive oil (Christine uses extra virgin)
Preparation
Step 1
Combine all of the SPICES in a mortar and crush with a pestle. Or pulse lightly in a blender. Add the SPICES to the olive oil and stir/blend to combine. Let sit for at least 10 minutes for the flavors to meld. Pour into a small shallow bowl and serve with crusty bread for dipping.
