Step 1

The degree to which wild rice is cooked is a matter of taste. Simmer 1 part wild rice to 3 to 4 parts water, until the kernels are done to your liking, anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. Drain any excess liquid. The larger and darker the kernels, the longer they'll take to cook.
