Ingredients
- Frosting:
- 1 c baking cocoa
- 1 c boiling water
- 1 c butter softened
- 2 1/2 c sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 t vanilla extract
- 3 c cake flour
- 2 t baking soda
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 cup(8 oz) sour cream
- 1 c (12oz) semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 c butter cubed
- 1 c(8 oz ) sour cream
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 4 1/2 to 5 c confectioners sugar
Preparation
Step 1
1. Dissolve cocoa in boiling wate, cool. In a lg mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add to cream mixture alternately with sour cream . Add cocoa mixture. Beat well.
2. pour into 3 greased and floured 9 “ round baking pans. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick is clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completetly
3. In a heavy saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat; stir until smooth. Remove from the heat. Cool for 5 minutes. Transfer to a lg mixing bowl. Add sour cream and vanilla, beat until blended . Add powdered sugar beat until light and fluffy. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake. Store in the refrgerator.
