To Cook Wild Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 3 cups water to a boil
  • 1 tsp, salt
  • Sauteed chopped onion
  • mushrooms
  • Toasted sliced almonds
  • Butter

Preparation

Step 1

Rinse thoroughly in cold water 1 cup wild rice and drain. Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a heavy saucepan. Add 1 tsp, salt and stir in rice. Bring back to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, cover and slowly cook for 30-45 min. until rice is fluffy ad water is absorbed. Serve plain or toss with a little butter. Sauteed chopped onion and or mushrooms may be added to rice before serving. Toasted sliced almonds may also be added to the rice.
