Maple Cranberry Pecan Dressing

Ingredients

  • StoveTop Cornbread Dressing Mix
  • Stock Turkey or Chicken
  • Butter
  • 1 lb Maple Sausage (Jimmy Dean)
  • 1 yellow Onion
  • Cranberries
  • Pecans

Preparation

Step 1

So I take a box of StoveTop – I use the corn bread version but use any “base” you like. I use stock (turkey or chicken) and butter – prepare according to box directions. Set aside.

1 lb – sausage. *I use maple sausage by Jimmy Dean. Sage is also good but I prefer the sweet taste from the maple. Fry and drain on paper towels. Set aside.

I sauté 1 chopped onion (yellow) in a pat of butter – I usually caramelize them. Towards the end of the onions being done, I throw in cranberries and pecans. *I use Craisins – the heat from the sauté pan plumps them up.

Once everything is complete, I throw it all together, mix it up, and continue to add cranberries and pecans until the dish looks as festive as you wish.

It’s that easy!

Now, if you are preparing it the night before and need to warm it in the oven or crock pot to serve the next day, I put it on high for a few hours then turn it to low or warm, and add stock and butter in small amounts.

This is really all it takes and you really can’t mess it up!
