  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened

  • 3 Kingsburg Orchards Asian pears (about 2 pounds)
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup toasted chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 F.

To prepare the crust, mix the first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl; cut in the softened butter until crumbly.

Press dough firmly and evenly against the bottom and sides of an ungreased 10-inch fluted tart pan.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Set aside.

To prepare the filling, cut Asian pears in half and core, then cut each half into 6 wedges.

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add pears and sauto for 20-25 minutes, or until nearly tender. Add brown sugar and cinnamon; saute for another 5 minutes or so, until pears are tender.

Place sauteed pears in a pinwheel pattern on the crust, and pour remaining sauce from the pan over them. Sprinkle with toasted pecans.

Serve with ice cream.

Makes 8 servings.
