Bread and Butter Pickles

Ingredients

  • BRINE:
  • 6 medium sized cucumbers
  • 3 small onions (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • Water to cover
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Let first ingredients stand in water for 2 hours then drain.
Boil the brine ingredients together.
Add drained cucumbers and simmer gently 15 minutes.
Let set on the counter for at least 24 hours.
