In a small bowl, stir together 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter, 1 tablespoon sweet or hot paprika, 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt, and 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper. Use immediately, or refrigerate, covered, up to 1 week (or freeze up to 3 months in an airtight container).
