Mounds Bars

By

I made these for the 2014 Family Reunion at the Moore's Lake Place. They were a hit. I made half with Hershey's bars laid out on the still hot bars and spreading, and also half with dark chocolate chips also laid on hot and spread. Made again in 2018. Mike Moore likes. Use only one bag of coconut. Don’t skimp on chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups flaked coconut (7oz bag)
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar and melted butter or margarine. Mix and pat into the bottom of one 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 15 minutes. Don't over bake.

Sprinkle the coconut over the crust, pour over the sweetened condensed milk, and with the back of a spoon, smooth and flatten the coconut. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 15 minutes.

Spread the melted chocolate chips or Hershey's bars over the top. Let cool and cut into squares.
