- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup Crisco
- 1 tsp. soda, mixed in 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. cardamom
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup finely chopped fruitcake mix
- 4 1/2 cup flour (or less)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Slightly grease cookie sheets
Cream together sugar and Crisco.
Stir in soda and buttermilk, sour cream, and flour; mix well
Let rest 1/2 to 1 hour (best if left overnight)
Take 1 large teaspoonful of dough and roll out, pencil-like on a floured pastry cloth.
Hold ends together and make 1/2 a twist.
Press together like a pretzel.
Place on cookie sheet.
Bake 10 minutes, or until lightly browned
Serve plain or with butter. (Best when warm)
