- 1 (4- to 5-pound) beef brisket
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (4- to 5-pound) beef brisket
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1/2 cup beer
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a roasting pan with cooking spray. Place brisket in roasting pan.
In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Pour over briskest, cover tightly with aluminum boil, and bake about 3 hours, or until meat is fork-tender. Slice brisket across grain and serve with pan drippings.
Note: If you want to make this in advance, just put the sliced brisket back into the pan of drippings, cover, and keep refrigerated. Reheat in oven.
ALTERNATIVE:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a large roasting pan with cooking spray and place brisket fat-side up in pan.
In a medium bowl, combine chili sauce, beer, and brown sugar. Pour evenly over brisket then cover with aluminum foil.
Bake 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or unit brisket is fork-tender. Slice thinly across the grain and serve with sauce from pan.
