My grandma's recipe: Marian Harris

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation

Step 1

Put all ingredients in a bowl without stirring until all are in the bowl. Beat well. Spread on a greased jelly roll pan (15 x 10 x 1 inch) pan. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees F. Frost with thin chocolate frosting soon after removing from oven. Also makes good cupcakes.
