Ingredients
- 1 loaf Italian bread, such as from a grocery bakery
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsely
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or other favorite herb (optional)
- salt
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Slice the bread, stopping short of the bottom so the loaf stays intact. Melt the butter with the olive oil; add the minced garlic cloves and 1/2 teaspoon salt and cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Stir in the chopped parsley and any other herbs if using. Spread the garlic mixture between the bread slices; wrap in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap and bake until crisp, 5 more minutes.
Notes:
You might need more butter depending on the size of the bread loaf. Just an FYI – try to gauge it for yourself and add another tablespoon if you feel you need to.
