Texas Beans

Ingredients

  • 16 oz package of dried pinto beans
  • 2 qts water
  • 16 oz can chopped tomatoes undrained
  • 4.5 oz can chopped green chilies
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 t cumin
  • 8 oz jar taco sauce
  • 1 large onion choppped
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/4 t black pepper
  • rice if desired

Preparation

Step 1

In a large pot bring beans and water to a boil. Drain water off beans, then pour another 2 qts water in the pot and bring to another boil. Cover and reduce heat and simmer 2 hours or until tender.

Stir rest of ingredients into the beans and simmer uncovered another 1 1/2 hrs or until thickened. Serve over rice.
