Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 T cornmeal
  • 6 cups bread flour
  • 2 (.25 ounce) pkg of yeast
  • 1 T white sugar
  • 2 t salt
  • 1/4 t baking soda

Preparation

Step 1

warm the milk and water in a small sauce pan until very warm, about 125 degrees.
grease 2 8X4 inch loaf pans and sprinkle with corn meal
In a large bowl mix 3 cups of flour yeast, sugar, salt, and soda. Stir milk/water into the flour mixture and beat well. Stir in the remaining flour 1 cup at a time until a stiff batter is formed. spoon battter into prepared pans. cover and let rise in a warm place intil nearly doubled in size (about 45 minutes). Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes. remove from pans and cool
