Ingredients
- challah bread*
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3 large egg yolks (no whites)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- Do not use stale bread. Stale bread crystallizes and these crystals have water inside - will make the bread mushy.
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 300 degrees F.
Slice challah bread about 1/2" thick. Toast bread for 15 minutes, 7 1/2 minutes on one side, then flip and heat for another 7 1/2.
Cool bread.
Mix liquid ingredients and soak bread in egg for 20 seconds each side.
Heat skillet and add pat of butter. When the foam dissipates, the pan is hot. Start cooking the toast, about 2 minutes each side.
