Ingredients
- 6 Tablespoons butter
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cocoa
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in microwave in an 8 x 8 inch glass dish. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon mixture over the melted butter in the baking dish. In a separate small bowl, combine 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the baking dish. Slowly pour the boiling water over the batter. Bake until set, about 30 minutes. Serve hot in individual dessert bowls with scoops of vanilla-bean ice cream. ( Note : to make self-rising flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt to regular flour. )
