Spicy meat and sausage loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb of ground pork
  • 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
  • 1 medium-sized yellow onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk or tomato juice
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingredients together well, using your hands. Pack into a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake loaf in moderate oven (350 degrees F) for 1 1/2 hours. Remove from the oven and let loaf cool upright in it's pan for about 10 minutes before turning out and slicing. This is to allow the loaf time to "firm up" so that it will slice more neatly.
