Ingredients

  • MILKSHAKE:
  • 1/2 lb fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 pint strawberry ice cream
  • STRAWBERRY WHIPPED TOPPING:
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp confectioners sugar
  • 4 large strawberries, mashed with a fork
  • Iced animal cookies, strawberry toaster pastries, fresh strawberries and jelly rolls, for serving

Preparation

Step 1

Combine strawberries with sugar and vanilla, then freeze for about an hour.

Meanwhile, make strawberry whipped topping. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer or working with a hand mixer, beat cream and confectioners sugar until soft peaks form. Add mashed berries and whip until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate until ready to use, or up to 1 hour.

Place frozen strawberry mixture in the blender with milk and blend until the strawberries are blended well. Stir the ice cream into the milk and strawberries by hand, then blend thoroughly. Stir, shake or add more milk, if necessary.

Pour milkshake into glasses. Pipe strawberry whipped cream on top using a plastic bag with corner snipped off, then garnish with assorted toppings. Serve immediately, refrigerating or freezing any leftovers.
