Honey-mustard drumsticks

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil spray
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 t garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 t onion powder
  • 1 t dry mustard
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 lbs bone-in skin-on drumsticks
  • 3/4 C dijon Mustard
  • 1/2 C honey

Preparation

Step 1

1. Coat inside of slow cooker with veg. oil spray. Mix sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, 1 t salt, and 1/2 t pepper together, then rub mixture evenly over chicken; transfer to slow cooker.

2. Mix Dijon and honey in bowl. Pour 1/2 C mixture over chicken and toss to coat; reserve remaining Dijon mixture separately. Cover and cook until chicken is tender, 4 to 6 h on low.

3. Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 450 degrees. Place wire rack in aluminum foil lined rimmed baking sheet and coat with veg. oil spray. Transfer chicken to prepared baking sheet; discard braising liquid.

4. Brush chicken with half of reserved dijon mixture and broil until lightly charred and crisp, 10 to 15 minutes. Flip chicken over, brush with remaining dijon mixture, and continue to broil until lightly charred and crisp on second side, 10 to 15 minutes longer, serve.
