Beef and Lentil Burger with Cilantro lime mayo

Ingredients

  • 300 g lean ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked brown lentils, cooled
  • 1 onion, grated
  • 1/4 cup dried bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • half jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp each: grouund cumin and pepper
  • 4 whoe wheat hamburger buns, halved
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Cilantro Mayo
  • 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp lime zest (combine ingred in bowl and set aside until ready to use)

Preparation

Step 1

In bowl combine beef, lentils, onion, bread crumbs, egg jalapeno, garlic, salt,cumin and pepper; shape into four 4" wide patties

Place on greased grill over med-high heat; close lid. \Grill, turning once, until instant read thermometer inserted sideways into centre reads 160F (71C), 10-12 minutes

Grill buns, dut side down until golden, 3 min

Spread may onto bottom half of each bun; add favourite toppings
