Ingredients
- Recipe:
- 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 1 cup raisins or craisins
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- original recipe called for 1 cup raisins, no choc chips

- 2.25 cups flour, sifted
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- .375 teaspoon cloves
- .19 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4.5 cups oatmeal
- 1 1/2 cup raisins or craisins
- 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- original recipe called for 1 cup raisins, no choc chips
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, salt, baking soda, spices together
Cream shortening, add sugars & cream together
Beat in eggs & vanilla extract
Add sifted dry ingredients & blend well
Add oatmeal & blend well
Add raisins & chocolate chips or craisins
Shape into walnut sized balls, place on lightly greased cookie sheets (or use parchment paper) & flatten
Bake @ 350 for 12-15 min or til lightly golden
