Main Dish: Basic Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
- 3 cups chopped yellow onions(about 3 medium)
- 1 TBSP olive oil
- 1 TBSP ugar
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 5 tsp freshly ground italian seasoning (McCormicks Italian Herb Grinder)
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 TBSP balsamic vinegar
- 2 cups vegetable broth (low sodium and fat)
- 3 (28oz) cans no salt added crushed tomatoes

Preparation
Step 1
Saute onions in oil over med high heat until tender. Add sugar and next 3 ingredients, saute 1 minute. Stir in vinegar, cook 30 seconds. Add broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low. Simmer 55 minutes or until sauce thickens. Makes a big batch. Can store in refrigerator up to 5 days or freezer up to 3 months.
