  • Cake: Melt in saucepan ¼ lb. margarine, ½ cup liquid shortening, 3 to 4 T coco and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir. Sift: 2 cups sugar and 2 cups self rising flour in large bowl. Pour hot liquid over this mixture. Beat well until smooth. Add ½ cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp.. vanilla. Mix well. Make at 400 degrees in pan approx. 11 x 15. Time varies with size of pan - 20-35 min.

    lb margarine 1 lb box powdered sugar

    T cocoa 1 tsp vanilla

    T milk 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans


Melt butter, cocoa and milk in pan. Bring to boil (stirring constantly). Stir in sugar, vanilla and nuts. Immediately pour over hot cake still in baking pan as soon as it is removed from oven.
