Children's Modeling Dough

Dear Readers: Need something to do with kiddos inside when the weather isn’t cooperating? Here is a fun and easy recipe for Heloise’s homemade modeling dough.

You will need: 3/4 cup salt, 1 cup hot water and 3 cups flour.

Blend hot water and salt only until the salt has dissolved. Place the flour in a bowl. Pour the salt solution over the flour and continuously stir until the dough is formed. Knead the dough until smooth. Place in a sealed bag and let sit for a few hours before using.

Make cutouts or small models from the dough. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 325 degrees. Check often so they do not burn. Paint when completely cool. For a twist, add food coloring to the water for colored dough. Have fun and get creative! — Heloise
